Italian Desserts

Tiramisu

The dessert we are presenting is tiramisu, which is considered by Italians to be the best dessert in the world. Its ingredients, although simple, include only mascarpone, egg yolks, sugar, sponge cakes soaked in coffee and amaretto liqueur, sprinkled with dark cocoa, win people’s hearts with its simplicity.

Although some people know only one variety of tiramisu, there are many types, e.g. pistachio, lemon, strawberry. Most people estimate that tiramisu was created in 1962 in the “La Beccherie” restaurant in Treviso, but some people cannot agree with this because they believe that it was not them who invented tiramisu and everyone credits themselves with the honor of creating the first such a delicious dessert, which is tiramisu.

An interesting fact is that a museum is to be created in Treviso that will show the history of tiramisu. The last interesting fact is that the name tiramisu means “to lift me up.” In our opinion, the translation makes sense because whoever has tried this delicious dessert knows that it really lifts the spirit and surprises with its simplicity.
